Strollers and Car Seats Advice!

Ok, all you mommy's out there! I need help choosing a car seat and stroller. I am a planner and need to know which one I need way ahead of time. I am not sure which one is the best or which one will fit our needs the best. I kind of want it to be for a boy or a girl, so that we don't have to buy another one in the event that we have another baby down the road.

Ryan is all about Consumer Reports, so we will also be checking that out as well!

Thanks ahead of time for any advice!

Are you wanting like a travel system or the convertible car seat? We did a travel system that was really nice because we could just leave the base in the car and get the car seat out and hook it on to the stroller or carry it in while we were eating because what else are you going to do with a baby that can't sit up?

When we were shopping for the convertible car seat when Lilly was approaching the weight limit of the "infant carrier" that goes with her travel system the guy at Babies R' Us told me some good advice. He showed me that most car seats are just the hard plastic underneath the fabric but there are a few that have like an impact absorbing foam between the plastic and fabric so that is what I looked for on that. We went with the Evenflo Triumph Advance. That is what Reid's is going to be too. I don't know if they have that foam in the infant carrier or not.

In my opinion it is worth the money to do an infant carrier for when they are small AND a convertible after they outgrow that because that infant carrier just comes in SO handy. Any other questions? Did I even answer the original question? Haha.

We have the chicco travel system. I love it!! The stroller rides so well too and the carseat is extra cushiony for the tushie!

We had the Chicco Travel System and while the car seat was great (you DEFINITELY want an infant one that clicks out of the car for when the baby is asleep) we never used that stroller. Its huge and doesnt ride well at all. Only time we ever used it was occasionally at the mall but all other times I'd just put her car seat in a cart at the store. Now we have the BOB jogging stroller and it is wonderful. It does have a car seat adapter for it but only works with certain car seats. It didn't work with Perri's but I got it when she was around 6 months so it was okay for her to ride in it on runs by then. They are expensive but have shocks and rides so smooth. Plus maneuvers much better than any other stroller I've tried. My suggestion for while the baby is young is to just get a snap n' go frame to put the car seat in, and save your $$ on the huge stroller that you'll probably never used. Someone advised me on this too and I didn't take their advice and sure wish I had!

I am agreeing with last commentor...just get the snap n go stroller to carry your infant car seat (still has cup holder/large basket underneath). Get something you really want for when they can actually SIT in the stroller. Do not go with COMBI infant seats, Trenton outgrew at 3months and he was not big! Ended up with Graco and am going to use the same one again...held up nice!

What I've found is that all strollers are big and bulky so it is just a matter of finding one you like to use, nevermind how hard it is to get it out of the car (they all are!). I had the car seat/stroller combo and I really liked it. I did get an umbrella stroller once the girls got older for quick trips into places. But I used my big stroller ALL THE TIME! As far as brands, I have no recommendations. Just shop around and try some out in the stores. And definitely read up on them in Consumer Reports!!! Good luck!!

Oh honey. Just know that it's not as overwhelming as it seems. I have a ton of opinions, so just call if you ever want to hear them. :)

I have a chicco carseat and LOVE it!! It is super easy to strap baby in and to get in and out of the car. I bought the snap and go stroller and have loved it!! It is so light weight and takes up less room in the car than the travel system stroller. When our daughter gets a little bigger we are planning on buying a nice stroller like a BOB or a McClaren etc.
